Bar & Bat Mitzvah Invitations – Trend Alert

Top 3 Bar & Bat Mitzvah Invitation Trends for 2013 from Cindy Witkow Designs

Invitations set the tone for your child’s b’nai mitzvah.  They’re your guests’ first peek into the type of event they’ll be attending.  Teens can take it as an opportunity to reflect their personality and style, and give guests a glimpse into their overall theme.  Cindy from Cindy Witkow Designs shares the top three trends she’s seeing this year.

Trend #1 – Showcase The Theme in a Small Way

Many bar & bat mitzvah invitations incorporate a religious aspect of the bar or bat mitzvah, such as the Star of David or tallit. If the b’nai mitzvah has a theme, we try to incorporate that in a small manner.  It shouldn’t necessarily overpower the invitation and the event.

For a baseball themed bar mitzvah, Cindy created an invitation suite with a clean and simple font and showcase the color palette of blue, dark gray and white.  On the back are Yankee pinstripes giving the formal invitation the youthful feeling it should have because it’s for a 13 year old!

Pocket style invitations are also in style.  Boxed Suites let you mount the invitation on one side and organize each card (rsvp, directions, etc.) in pockets on the other side. It’s clean and simple and elegant, in a tidy package.

It’s no longer just about the invitation.  Families are using unique and modern fonts to match their theme. More thought is going into envelope liners, address labels, and stamps to make the invitation truly stand out.  Designs are making their way to the outside of the envelope.

Cindy Witkow suggests fun touches like using a cool font for the name and place name, a mustache for the return address, custom stamps and pointing fingers for important details.
