A Unique Sports Theme Bar Mitzvah Party

Ideas to Reinvent the Common Mitzvah and Party ThemeBasketball Party Lounge Chair Couch

When it comes to choosing a bat/bar mitzvah or party theme, many teens choose to showcase their interests – like fashion, sports, or candy.  This can only mean one thing – lots of parties with the same theme!

Melisa Imberman of The Event of a Lifetime was less than thrilled when her son wanted a sports theme.  So she was excited to share her son’s bar mitzvah with us because it exemplifies how you can make a common theme different.  After planning bar & bat mitzvahs for everyone else, now it was her turn….

Baseball Jersey Escort Cards

Baseball Stadium Escort Place CardsThinking outside the box, the family rented out a health club and transformed it into what looked like a NYC club or sports lounge.  The colors were Black and Gunmetal with accents of Red. The room was sophisticated, yet filled with unexpected sport touches.

The escort cards were mini baseball jerseys on bleachers which sat on a baseball diamond.

Grand Entrance

For the grand entrance, Melisa and her husband entered, followed by their daughter. The  lights suddenly went out and the entrance video started playing on a screen. When the video was over the guest of honor, Alex, broke through the screen.

Sports Theme Centerpieces & Decor

Tables were adorned with luxurious linens, lots of candles, beautiful flowers, as well as mini baseballs, basketballs and footballs.

Sports Mitzvah Baseball Cocktail TableThe lounge also included creative cocktail tables made of baseball bats and balls, basketballs and footballs.  There were oversized ottomans that looked like baseballs and basketballs, as well as photos and fatheads of Alex playing baseball, basketball and football at all different ages.

The creativity didn’t stop at the bar mitzvah decor.  The fun and interactive cocktail hour entertained guests with unique action food stations, such as someone making mozzarella from scratch & rolling in personalized items.
