Traditional Jewish Wedding With A Party Vibe

When you come home from a wedding covered in Mardi Gras beads, you know it’s been a fun time!  Lindsay and David’s traditional Jewish wedding added unexpected surprises when the fun-loving couple decided to get married on St. Patrick’s Day in Charleston, SC. Photography by Carmen Ash Photography.

Jewish Bride“Charleston has everything – romance, beautiful weather, southern hospitality and delicious food,” Lindsay explained. The wedding was “unforgettable, classic, and (so much) fun!”

The Jewish wedding ceremony took place at the KKBE Synagogue.  The oldest reform Jewish synagogue in the country also made for some fabulous photos.

It was absolute perfection.”

Bride Cream BouquetLindsay’s dress and veil was custom designed by Chicago designer Vwidion, which she paired with Badgley Mischka shoes.

Cream Purple Wedding FlowersThe cream colored bridal bouquet was perfectly accented by the bridesmaids’ black dresses and purple flowers.

Jewish Wedding Bridal PartyThe reception was in the heart of Charleston at The Charleston Place Hotel. The cocktail hour was held in the hotel courtyard and the reception was in the ballroom of the hotel.

Purple Wedding BridesmaidsBridesmaids wore a mix of coordinated black short dresses and peep toe shoes.

Purple & Green Wedding CenterpiecesFrom the Bride: The ballroom was transformed into a purple-hued wonderland. Black-linen clad tables were set with silver chargers, tall flower arrangements by Bloom, and menus by Charleston Place. Multiple bars, bookcases, and high-top tables surrounding the dance floor created a mixture of a southern ball with a big city lounge.

In keeping with their fun-loving style, the twenty-minute hora went beyond chair lifting, as the couple was basket-tossed into the air by the groomsmen! Party favors were handed out to all of the guests including “Team Pessis” headbands, mardi gras beads, and outrageous hats. Guests partied all night long in head-to-toe party favors.Hora BrideHora GroomWedding KidsJewish Wedding Entertainment Wedding First Dance Bride & GroomHow did this adorable couple meet?  “David and I have known each other for over ten years. David happens to be my older brother’s best friend and so we’ve been friends for a long time. After I graduated from college, we began working together and shortly after that began dating. After about two years of dating (and no longer working together) David surprised me one Thursday night after work, when I walked into our Chicago apartment thinking David was away on a business trip only to find him down on one knee with the most perfect Tiffany princess cut diamond in his hand.” She was also surprised later that evening with a family engagement party.

White & Purple Cupcake Tower WeddingThe reception also featured a purple and white cupcake tower, the bride’s favorite dessert, and a seven-piece band.

Masquerade Jewish WeddingAdvice from the Bride: Enjoy every second of the day and don’t sweat the small stuff. All that matters is that you’re marrying the person of your dreams!
