Two years after graduating from the University of Rhode Island together, Johanna and Bryan re-connected in New York. Recently, they married in a romantically whimsical Jewish interfaith ceremony at The Sands at Atlantic Beach, a beautiful beachfront property in Long Island, NY. Along with jewelry, shoes are a great way to reflect the bride’s personality throughout the day. Johanna also used her footwear to get creative with her ‘something blue’, inserting a blue ‘I Do’ on the bottom of her heels!
Beach Wedding Ceremony – Chuppah
The Sands at Atlantic Beach offers such a breathtaking beach backdrop, the couple chose minimal décor for their outdoor ceremony to fully emphasize the natural scenery. A cherry blossom chuppah added a whimsical tone to their wedding space. Even the bridesmaids’ floral arrangements were kept simple, with white rose buckets and small fuchsia flowers.
The venue’s beach locale also offered an easy and fun set for photographs. The groomsmen had no problem letting loose for pictures on the sand, while the bridal party’s fuchsia gowns truly popped against the ocean background.
As an interfaith wedding, the couple each chose to include religious traditions that meant the most to them; a ketubah was signed, a Priest and Rabbi co-officiated, they held a sand ceremony and stomped the glass, and an excerpt from the Corinthians was read. But the Hava Nagilia was Johanna’s favorite memory, explaining the band spontaneously extended the song when they saw how much fun all the guests were having with it.
The Sands at Atlantic Beach reception hall offers the luxury of an expansive space, but the intimacy you’ll want for any personal occasion. The couple added purple uplighting to the room to highlight the wedding color scheme.
Johanna and Bryan chose three different centerpieces, each with a varied design of tea lights and pink and purple floral arrangements. The elegant table decorations meshed perfectly with the bright ceilings and romantic décor.
