Lauren Kessler celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at Marlboro Jewish Center in Marlboro, New Jersey with a dazzling affair in turquoise, black, white, silver and zebra. Exquisite Caterers catered the event and Extraordinary Productions transformed the ballroom into a glamorous, safari-inspired event! Photography by Unlimited Exposures.
Party Centerpieces & Decor
The walls of Marlboro Jewish Center were lit up in different hues of blue. Extraordinary Productions complemented the wall lighting with blue tablecloths and blue & black zebra printed napkins. Centerpieces alternated between dramatic feathers in different shades of blue and black, and a zebra lampshade creating a stunning tablescape.
The seating cards were also blue and black zebra print. In place of a sign-in board, Lauren went with a sign-in book showcasing her bat mitzvah logos. She had four logos, also created by Extraordinary Productions, who, according to the family “was fantastic!”.
There was a lounge section where the teens could hang out. The chic look featured LED tables, white modern couches, and photos from a photo shoot of Lauren.
Food & Drinks
The food at the event was bountiful with numerous offerings at the cocktail hour. Exquisite Caterers is known for their creative presentation of delectable Kosher bites. There were main course options to appeal specifically to the kid’s taste buds, with more sophisticated options for the adults.
For the kids (and many adults!), Exquisite Caterers featured a snow cone machine, pucker candy machine, chocolate fountain and sundae bar. Deconstructed S’mores were also a crowd favorite.
An overflowing candy and cookie table ensured no one left hungry. White candles dressed up in turquoise and zebra accented the dessert tables. According to Dad Brian, “Seriously, more food than anyone knew what to do with!”

For her mitzvah project, Lauren chose to, and continues to, volunteer her time with Friendship Circle, a Jewish organization that brings together teenage volunteers and children with special needs for hours of fun and friendship.
Lauren’s family reflected that there are very few occasions where you can simply let go and celebrate, and a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is one of those times. The Kessler family could not have been happier with the vendors they chose and they advise planning ahead and using trustworthy and credible people. And most of all, ENJOY! This is a once in a lifetime event and one that should be treasured in the company of family and friends.
