A hot trend when it comes to throwing parties is giving the event the chic look and feel of a nightclub or lounge. This is especially fun for teen parties, such as bar & bat mitzvahs and Sweet 16s, where the “not quite old enough” guest of honor and friends can experience the feel of a nightclub that is suitable for their age.
Here are some of our favorite ideas to pull off the sleek and sophisticated Nightclub & Dance Club theme:
After an invitation, the venue itself is what guests see next and choosing a club to host your event is a great way to help you create and maintain a cohesive theme. 404 in New York City is a great location that features a stark white, open-concept space with multi levels.
Life…The Place To Be considers itself an “alternative” venue because of its open concept and unique floor plan that can be transformed to fit the needs and wants of any event.
The Beach at Sands at Atlantic Beach is a unique venue in that it is on the beach which adds a whole other level to any affair, but features a sleek, nightclub atmosphere to give you and your guests the beauty of options.
If the name doesn’t say enough, Vegas NJ is a premiere, newly renovated event space that features a sting-ray aquarium, stage, piano bar and casino to accommodate anything you’ve ever wanted and more.
Before guests can attend your party, they have to be invited! A VIP pass, like the one above from The Invitation Blog, is a cute way to invite guests to a club-themed party where they’ll already feel like they’re getting the royal treatment!
Escort & Place Cards
Drawing on the earlier notion of a VIP pass for an invitation, Person Person + Killian Photography shows VIP passes as escort cards, hanging and placed on a table with flowers and candles to create a truly elegant display.
An uber sleek and sophisticated way to decorate your club-themed party is with LED lighting and furniture.
City Sounds Entertainment creates a bold look using color-changing LED high-top tables and cubes for guests to place their cocktails (or mocktails!) on.
Dynamic Events at Temple Tikvah complements the light-up furniture with an LED backdrop. They lit an entire wall behind the bar for a very modern vibe, and use module seating to enhance the vibe.
For a twist no one will forget, lighting the dance floor is a great option as shown by Konrad Brattke Photography.
While balloons may seem like nothing out of the ordinary, Life O’ The Party shows that they can be EXTRAordinary! Whether you create an entire wall using thousands of balloons or use different shapes such as star point balloons (pictured), foil is a bold way to go. There are truly unique ways to use balloons, for this theme and beyond. View 15 Creative Ways to Use Balloons.
Teen Lounge Decor
One of the most popular details of a nightclub theme is to feature a lounge in addition to the formal tables and chairs for guests. The lounge is a more intimate setting where the teens can hang out. It can include decor that showcases the theme of the event, usually in a more subtle or sophisticated way while giving guests a retreat from the main event. Some party lounges also feature a kids buffet, mocktail station, and activities specially for the teens.
A lounge can beautifully complement your theme. Balloon Artistry creates an upscale lounge for a sports-themed affair, which features huge sports decor along the wall, outfitted with sleek white couches and bar tables and stools.
City Sounds Entertainment creates drama with lighting again, this time on tables and ottomans in an otherwise dark, canopied lounge.
White leather couches are accented by lit-up ottomans that provide a pop by Dynamic Events at Temple Tikvah.
Ira Casel Photography displays Tiffany blue and sequined pillows for a Tiffany-themed event, with the bar mitzvah logo adding glitz and glamor!
Xquisite Flowers & Events executed a striking lounge that featured blown up black and white photos of the guest of honor with friends and family, as well as pillows in different colors and textures like sparkles for a real pop. View the Bat Mitzvah, planned by The Event of a Lifetime.
For a winter wonderland theme, Total Party created an icy lounge complete with sleek white furniture, blue pillows and lit up branches and snowflakes.
Whether you opt to include a lounge or not, centerpieces are another great way to achieve a club vibe at your party. Ira Casel Photography shows us the centerpieces that go with the Tiffany-themed lounge featured earlier, using Tiffany blue votives, all white flowers and crystal strands to enhance the classy, adult theme.
These chandelier centerpieces by Lasting Memories Photography are simply stunning and exceptionally elegant, featuring strands of crystals dripping down from a halo of flowers.
Though flowers may seem like standard centerpiece decor, arranging small, simple arrangements atop a disco-like tablecloth is all you need to drive home a club theme, like the above by Nancy Swiezy Events. Another option is placing roses in disco ball centerpieces for a stunning effect.
SBZ Events uses bling to enhance their centerpieces, utilizing silver tablecloths and crystal balls of varying heights and sizes to create an eye-catching look.
Games & Entertainment
Let guests feel like they’re at the latest celebrity hotspot by having them walk the red carpet! The Red Carpet Photo Booth from City Sounds Entertainment features a step and repeat with the guest of honor’s name and event date and logo.
Catering & Cocktails
A martini bar is very chic, and when stocked with various colors and flavors of mocktinis, is even better! Exquisite Caterers displays them on shelves with the alcohol on top nestled in ice. Check out the full bat mitzvah.
Cake & Candle-Lighting
A clean and modern look can flow through all the way to the cake and candle lighting. Balloon Artistry used floating votives in tall glasses filled with water and crystals for an elegant and unique display.
Shireen Louw Photography displays a beautiful cake atop an equally beautiful uplit stand to really draw attention to it.
We’ve seen that pillows are a great way to accent a lounge space, and if you’re after a minimalist theme, Balloon Artistry shows us custom pillows using a monogrammed initial design with a chevron border for a modern and personalized logo featured on pillows and tabletops in the lounge.
SBZ Events uses interlocking lower case letters to create a modern, young logo used on both pillows and tabletops, as well.
