LIFE The Place To Be, located in Westchester County, is a versatile event space – a prime example of how a venue can change its look and feel by creatively adapting its space and lighting.LIFE was originally created and still functions as a special events venue (mitzvahs, weddings, parties, corporate events), but it has also evolved as ‘the place to be’ for small parties & family oriented fun & entertainment activities such as arcades, bowling alleys, rock climbing, and laser tag.
Wondering how a wedding, company event, mitzvah or wedding-related parties are set up in such a venue? LIFE uses in-house lighting and modular furniture to transform a 30,000 square foot space into an intimate setting, an elegant room or a high-energy throbbing environment.
For those events such as weddings, fund raisers and galas, the activity equipment is curtained off, creating a clean space to decorate, accent and light as desired. In-House audio visual technology and LED lighting can be programmed to capitivate whatever atmosphere desired! LIFE can create a setting that is sublime enough for a fund raiser or corporate event, sophisticated enough for an upscale wedding or mitzvah, sassy for a fun event or sizzling for a high energy mitzvah or team building function.
Steven Zukerman, owner of LIFE The Place To Be, tells us that it is important to work with the client to identify their interests, theme and color preferences. Don’t be shy about asking questions! What can be an intimidating process – decisions on color, space design & furniture, decor becomes fun!
Blue is one of the most popular colors, but try to integrate your favorite color or the company’s logo color into the color palette. Pink, orange, purple are also very popular.
Lighting and decor should complement one another. The final effect will be dazzling!
Make sure the Event Coordinator and your photographer and videographer work together! It’s important to test out the lighting and make sure that the exposure time and settings are optimal for the lighting so that the colors don’t get bleached out.
Working closely and tapping into the imagination and expertise of your venue’s event coordinator or your event planner can help you envision and create the perfect setting for your event.
Many thanks to Steven Zukerman and Sheri Leonard for their great tips and advice!
