Now that the warm weather is almost here, we’re sure you’ll be attending, and maybe even hosting (!) some outdoor events! Here are 6 of our favorite inspirations for an al fresco wedding, Bar or Bat Mitzvah or any type of party!
1. Play Up The Venue
If you’d like at least part of your event to take place outside, a location with a beautiful and functional outdoor space is crucial. The Sands at Atlantic Beach (pictured above and below) is a premiere beach-front venue on Long Island, and a perfect option for your next outdoor event! While the interior of the space is gorgeous, you can also set up a tent on the beach. The only thing more fun than dancing is dancing barefoot on (or near) the sand!

2. Feature Decor That Won’t Blow Away
Though the natural beauty of the outdoors will speak for itself, there are lots of fun ways to play with decor to enhance your outdoor event. Balloons are a party favorite but may seem out of the question considering the elements.
Pretty Geeky gave us the idea to fasten balloons to golf tees as stakes. Placing them in the ground ensures they stay put, while also creating the illusion that they are floating!
Balloon Celebrations also shows this concept, using over-sized balloons to add drama to this garden party.
Paper lanterns are also great for adding color to your outdoor affair. Available from Luna Bazaar, these lanterns come in a wide variety of colors, sizes and shapes, and can be illuminated to provide romantic lighting for a nighttime event.
At Beau Coup, you can get paper lanterns in really cool shapes. Some of our favorites are Hot Air Balloon Paper Lanterns and Sports Ball Lanterns, including baseballs, soccer balls, basketballs and footballs!

Playing with lighting is also important when planning an outdoor event, as the sun and stars provide amazing natural light! Eco-Beautiful Weddings shows numerous ways to use candles to light the night at your next affair, such as creating a romantic path with small votives. Unique candles and lighting can be purchased from Koyal Wholesale.
If you go for tea-lit ambiance, there are tons of decorative tea light holders to consider. Beau Coup has some gorgeous options, including these Vintage Aqua Mini Tea Light Holders and Moroccan Henna Jewel Lanterns.
3. Keep Guests Cool
For every pro of an outdoor wedding, there are some cons. Nature is beautiful, but it is also not forgiving. Fear not with these tips to keep yourself and your guests cool!
The amazing minds at Abigail Kirsch Catering Relationships have created spiked Italian ices so guests can stay cool and satiate their thirst with a fun and creative beverage! Flavors include daiquiri and pina colada!
Where the Sidewalk Begins also shares a great idea of serving popsicles submerged in drinks (both alcoholic and not!) for a treat you can eat and drink to stay cool!
4. Keep Guests Comfortable
When it comes to ensuring your guests’ comfort, we’ve rounded up some amazing ideas!
Women have long since faced the annoyance of wearing pumps outside with the heels constantly sinking into the grass. Enter heel protectors! Heels Above and SoleMates offer high heel protectors your guests will love! Thank you Wedding Day Pin for this ingenious idea that will allow us to wear cute shoes to our outdoor affairs!
Want to buy in bulk? Starlettos offers chic crystal heel protectors that that come in value packs, each packaged in a convenient satin pouch.
Stones, like the ones shown above from Wedding Catcher are great specifically for bridesmaids to stand on which will protect heels while also giving them a little height as they stand at the front of the ceremony!
Printing programs on fans, having sunscreen and bug spray readily available, and giving out sunglasses are also great ideas!!
5. Be Creative With Entertainment Options
In addition to eating, drinking and dancing, outdoor events provide an unrivaled setting for unique entertainment! Amazing Amusements offers a fun variety of themed-entertainment like carnival games and food perfect for an outdoor wedding, mitzvah or event!
6. Showcase the Season
It’s hard not to be inspired by nature. We love the idea of incorporating the season of your event into other aspects of your event, like the cake!
This wedding cake from Cake & Co. was from a Fall wedding where the rustic foliage backdrop was echoed in their cake!
For a Spring or Summer affair, we absolutely adore this tiered cake that features a spiral of beautiful (and edible!) rainbow butterflies from Sweet Wedding Cakes. Amazon offers these similar butterfly cake decorations if you decide to go the DIY route.
