Girls just love a good romance (some guys, too). Storybook romance is great, but what’s really amazing is when real life delivers a love story straight out of a novel. Letizia and Tim’s engagement story of an American couple in Paris certainly fits that category. Los Angeles photographer Melvin Gilbert just happened to be in Paris at the same time, and he was in on the fun.
Photographer Melvin had met the bride-to-be before on Twitter, and she had a sneaking suspicion that the big moment would happen on their trip to Paris. The two hatched a plot, and sure enough Tim proposed. Melvin agreed to meet the couple the next day on a chilly but bright Paris morning to take some engagement photos. As the three strolled through Paris, the engagement story unfolded.
The Pont des Arts Bridge is a place where lovers attach padlocks engraved with their names and then throw the key into the Seine River below. Tim had purchased such a lock for Letizia’s birthday, and they agreed to put it on the bridge when they got to Paris. As Tim was attaching the lock he casually suggested, “Since I’m down here…” and out popped the ring!
Wow! This couple’s not afraid of heights!
The engagement photo shoot went from The Eiffel Tower, over the bridge, and onto the breathtaking central square of the Louvre. The Louvre Palace, which houses the museum, began as a 12th century fortress. With so many charming sites and landmarks, mixed with stunning old world architecture, it’s no wonder that this is the city of romance.
Paris was, is, and ever will be The City of Love. It’s also a great place for a lovely photo shoot. Much thanks to Letizia, Tim, and Melvin for sharing their beautiful story and gorgeous pictures. Congrats to the happy couple!
