One of the most fun parts of planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is picking a theme and incorporating the guest of honor’s favorite things into their special day. Bar Mitzvah boy Paul and his family took it a step further by hosting Paul’s reception at Yankee Stadium! Renee and Nick have known each other for the majority of their lives, classmates from kindergarten through their undergraduate days at Georgetown University. But it wasn’t until recently that the two went from friends to fiances, and now husband and wife!

18 is a spiritual number in the Jewish culture. Gifts are often given in multiples of 18, symbolizing the gift of life and good luck. In 2013, the number 18 became even more significant for my husband Jeff and me, representing the unforgettable day our daughter Liya was born, on October 18.
To make Liya’s first birthday celebration even more special and meaningful, we decided to combine her party with her Jewish baby naming ceremony. Being the superstitious Jew that I am, we never had a baby shower, so this event was a way to FINALLY celebrate our beautiful baby girl with all of our loved ones.
