18 is a spiritual number in the Jewish culture. Gifts are often given in multiples of 18, symbolizing the gift of life and good luck. In 2013, the number 18 became even more significant for my husband Jeff and me, representing the unforgettable day our daughter Liya was born, on October 18.
To make Liya’s first birthday celebration even more special and meaningful, we decided to combine her party with her Jewish baby naming ceremony. Being the superstitious Jew that I am, we never had a baby shower, so this event was a way to FINALLY celebrate our beautiful baby girl with all of our loved ones. Jasper celebrated his Bar Mitzvah with a neon-themed reception in Westchester, NY. Black, neon green, neon blue and glow-in-the-dark details lit up the night, creating a party to remember! In 2013, we as a Jewish people experienced a true rarity as Thanksgiving and Hanukkah coincided. Our featured Bat Mitzvah girl Lyndsey also celebrated her Bat Mitzvah that same weekend, dubbing it Thanksgivukkah Mitzvah weekend! Lyndsey has many hobbies, including baking, and when it came time to pick a Bat Mitzvah theme, she knew cupcakes would be it. Amanda may only be 13 years old, but she’s already got great taste! When it came time to pick a bat mitzvah theme, Amanda had a vision. That vision came to life at her bat mitzvah party, which was held at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston, New Jersey. Tiffany & Co. became Amanda & Co., and the entire reception was morphed into a shopping-inspired wonderland!
