18 is a spiritual number in the Jewish culture. Gifts are often given in multiples of 18, symbolizing the gift of life and good luck. In 2013, the number 18 became even more significant for my husband Jeff and me, representing the unforgettable day our daughter Liya was born, on October 18.
To make Liya’s first birthday celebration even more special and meaningful, we decided to combine her party with her Jewish baby naming ceremony. Being the superstitious Jew that I am, we never had a baby shower, so this event was a way to FINALLY celebrate our beautiful baby girl with all of our loved ones. Planning Liya’s baby naming inspired me creatively, and allowed us to create an event that was truly personal and memorable. READ MORE ......→
At mazelmoments, we strive to provide infinite inspiration for Bar and Bat Mitzvah planning. Many of our real events and theme posts showcase creative ideas for all different party styles. While we love a good themed party, we also love when the guest of honor’s favorite colors and initials simply dictate the decor. A gorgeous example is this Bat Mitzvah from one of our favorite party planners, The Event of a Lifetime, in conjunction X-Quisite Flowers & Events, Inc.
Bat Mitzvah girl Rebecca loves purple and turquoise, and these colors were used throughout the party…including on the dresses worn by Rebecca and her mom! READ MORE ......→
Planning a Bar Mitzvah that’s traditional as well as new and exciting is no easy task. Will’s family was able to pull it off with class and style by splitting up the festivities! Will became a Bar Mitzvah with a private Havdallah service at NYC’s Ansche Chesed Synagogue, followed by a lovely dinner for all the guests. The next day was an action-packed kids-only party at New Jersey’s RPM Raceway. Photography credit: JDZ Photography and Custom Incredibles.
Candyland isn’t just a game for kids! Molly celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at the Westminster Hotel in New Jersey with a creative spin on the iconic board game. Guests joined in her celebration with an escape to Mollyland! Thank you to Chris Jorda Photography for capturing it all for us.
The bat mitzvah weekend included Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was significant since Molly was born on that day in 2001, and her grandmother is a Holocaust survivor. A donation was made to Self Help NY, an organization dedicated to supporting those who suffered in the Holocaust.
According to mom Karen, “the weekend had the balance of a spiritual and religious event with the combination of family and friends. Every person in the room was celebrated as having touched Molly in their own unique way.”
Bar Mitzvah boy Jake is an Orlando Magic and fantasy sports league fanatic. He and his family combined both of those loves to create an amazingly personal and memorable Bar Mitzvah, and A Magic Moment Photography captured it all on film!
Jake’s special day started off with a glimpse into his party theme. His basketball yarmulke was a unique way to add a personal touch to his bar mitzvah service. READ MORE ......→
Color is everywhere, and no one knows color better than the color experts at Pantone. Hot off the heels of Fashion Week, Pantone announced the top colors for Spring 2015. We saw a collection of overall soft hues – a mix of cool and warm, but all subtle. The top 10 color collection is meant to be minimalistic, going by the name “En Plein Air,” a French expression translating to “in the open air.” The entire palate confirms the notion that color is a lifestyle, and isn’t merely just for fashion or home decor, but every aspect of a person’s life…including weddings and events!
Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, and The Inheritance Cycle all came to life in Joshua’s medieval / fantasy themed Bar Mitzvah. From the coat of arms to period costumes, this event made the fictional a reality! Joshua’s mom Lina, a sought after photographer with Lasting Memories Photography, has been on the opposite end of the camera for countless dazzling affairs. The creative DIY crafter worked with the vendors listed below to bring her son’s vision to life.
Nature-lover Jenna celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in New Jersey, with a lovely ceremony and Rainforest themed party. For the “green theme,” green was a natural color choice, with pops of purple defining the event space. Potted plants and floral centerpieces could be planted after the event – a perfect eco-friendly choice! Photography by Art + Life Photography.
