Linhardt Design is the premiere New York City jeweler recognized for its pioneering design and innovation. Linhardt Design merges exceptional design with the highest principles of sustainability by utilizing recycled metals and responsibly-sourced stones. Linhardt Design has two locations: a private studio in midtown Manhattan where high-end custom pieces are made-to-order and a boutique in the East Village boutique where the ready made Linhardt Design collection is showcased.
In 2007, Lisa Linhardt walked 100 miles from Kenya to Tanzania to raise funds for girls literacy. On the walk, Lisa met a young Maasai girl who praised the opportunities women have in the U.S. to pursue their dream and “become whatever they wanted.” When the Maasai girl asked Lisa what she was doing to follow her dream, Lisa was surprised that she could not answer her. But inspired by her question, shortly after returning home to NYC, Linhardt Design opened its doors.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Lisa Linhardt is a classically trained goldsmith born and raised in New York City (Jamaica, Queens) where her artistry was nurtured in a vibrant and diverse cultural melting pot. She studied dance at Benjamin Cardozo High School, art/sculpture in Greece & Italy, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA from New York University. Lisa took jobs as a freelance music photographer and dancer while pursuing a career in graphic design. She eventually became an Art Director and managed her own design agency that included clients such as UNICEF, Salzburg Festival Society, and RecycleBank. In her spare time, Lisa continued to study sculpture and forming in metal.
For the past decade, Lisa has explored jewelry design through personal experiments, professional mentors, and formal training in New York City (Fashion Institute of Technology and School of Visual Arts), California (Revere Academy), New Mexico (Taos School of Metalsmithing) and in various workshops throughout New York and Maine. Lisa’s designs are often inspired by her time living in Scandinavia when she was introduced to the work of many mid-century masters.
Linhardt Design was recognized by New York Magazine as its “Critics’ Pick: Best of New York” and has been coined the “green jeweler.” Lisa has been showcased in the Sundance Channel’s series “New Revolutionaries” as well as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NYC. Linhardt Design jewelry has also been featured in magazines such as Vogue, InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar and has been worn by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Gisele Bundchen and Alicia Keys.
Linhardt Design donates a portion of the proceeds from the jewelry to girls’ education in Kenya.
