ENJOY WICKHAM PARK
Clarence H. Wickham, a Manchester industrialist, wanted the public to enjoy his beautiful estate, The Pines, as much as he and Mrs. Wickham had enjoyed it during the many years it was their home. He left instructions with his trustee, Hartford National Bank (now Bank of America), to develop the estate into a park after he and Mrs. Wickham died. He established a trust fund to finance its operation and maintenance.
Today the estate is maintained independently as Wickham Park. With additional land acquired by the trust, it consists of 250 acres of gardens, woodlands, open fields, ponds, picnic areas and sports facilities.
